Starring: Jackie Chan
Caught this recently and I must say that this was mediocre. As a fan of Oriental movies (even those produced by Golden Harvest) I have to give this movie my thumbs down.
The story revolves around Jackie Chan playing the role of Bob. A mild mannered Chinese guy engaged to his next door neighbor. The plot moves on after his retirement from the secret agent business in order to prepare for his engagement. Hilarity (or lack thereof) ensues when his girlfriend leaves him in charge with her kids and their pets. Bob must now learn how to deal and cope with these kids and understand their wants and needs. He also fends for the kids and his life when Bob is targetted by a group of (uncool) Russian criminals.
Jackie Chan is Jackie Chan. No matter what happens he will always be great in wacky kung fu antics and for inspiring the Tekken character Lei Wu Long. But his performance his was kindaaaa dry. For crying out loud he had to wear glasses just to look meek. But check out his other non-Hollywood movies and you’ll know that Jackie Chan without the glasses still looks meek and mild mannered. So the glasses was a bad call.
Some of the cast where forgettable, however, Enzo did spot the guy who played Taylor Swift’s boyfriend for the music video “You Belong To Me”. He played the role of Larry. And who could forget the little girl who initially wanted to become a princess but later wanted to be a cyborg? She was awfully cute.
We were having dinner when we watched this and we barely moved on past the fact that the movie reminded us so much of Vin Diesel’s cute but often frowned upon “The Pacifier”. We even managed to substitute the boy’s role as that of the boy who played the Nazi in the Sound of Music over in the Pacifier. Nods or not, comparisons to that movie can never be helped.
Overall, I would recommend just getting the movie on DVD instead.

The Geoff Johns helmed Blackest Night continues in the 50th issue of Green Lantern. When we last left of the power rangers, they all learn the identity of their newest recruits. As well as the zombie-infestation of the city with no fear, Coast City. Nekron together with the rest of the zombified Superman and other metahumans are getting ready for the final stage of the Blackest Night.
There are bickering amongst the new lanterns such as between Lex Luthor and Larfleeze.
In this issue alone, Hal Jordan (a) kisses Star Sapphire Carol Ferris (b) bickers with former mentor Sinestro over their rings' dubious selection of bearers (were looking at you Scarecrow and Lex) (c) Saves Ganthet and Sayd from the literal jaws of Black Lantern Crispus Allen / Spectre and (d) frees the Parallax entity from imprisonment and becomes Parallax once more.

The issue is a solid action issue and deliverrs quite a hefty character plot development. It's also great to see the interaction between the new Lanterns together with their mentors/ seniors such as Mera and Atrocitus. Mera's blood puking on her zombie baby was quite horrific but cool as well as the gibberish "discussion" between the Atom and Indigo (with Ray saying "bug eyed monster").
One time I was in a discussion with ComicKolektorPhilippines founder Tons about how Blackest Night would end and we had our solid idea on whats happening and how it will end. But seeing the recent developments mid-way, I must say we were stumped and dead wrong. We dont have any clue whatsoever on how this is going to end and I am thoroughly enjoying that fact.

Thank you Geoff Johns and company for this. And happy 50th issue Hal.

Thanks to my friend Jori for posting these on his site.
I definitely dig Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter...

I'm having a hard time thinking why Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin needs to tie up with Blackest Night despite the fact that its just a limited series?Lifted from the DC's The Source

Marvel just released a second teaser image for the next X-over, Second Coming. Apparently, an X-Man would die while trying to get Hope Summers.
So who's it going to be?
My money's on either Nightcrawler or Anole or we can probably see Hellion getting stabbed once more like a kebab courtesy of Lady Deathstrike.
But you know what, this whole death for the X-Men is something really stupid. It's getting old and uninteresting.

Synopsis: Rockstar Games presents the latest installment for their well-loved Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA: Jason Ivler. Say goodbye to the streets of Liberty City and San Andreas as the locale shifts to the Philippines, where you play the role of ex-Marine and all-around psycho Jason Ivler.
Players will get the chance to drive like crazy in the new open environment system for the Playstation 3. Hit cars, pedestrians and even gun down hapless drivers that cuts in your way. As Ivler, you may also try different driving and shooting styles as you go around the streets of Metro Manila. Kill and threaten as much drivers as possible. Bonus points if you gun down politicians or celebrities. When your fame meter rises, its time to run away from the cops.
POLICE MODE: In Police Mode, Players get the chance to play the role of a newbie cop hot on the heels of the psycho road rage driver. Get to utilize various cars such as the owner type jeep and the massive San Juan Zaido SUV. HIDE MODE: In hide mode, you once again play Ivler on the run from the law. Get to shoot more people and brag about it before hiding and fleeing from the police.
And finally, MOM MODE: Play as Jason Ivler's exotic mom as she drives through the city looking for her son. Play in over 30 locales and beat the clock to find your psycho road rage son. Bring him back to your place and raise your son ala Pokemon and Tamagotchi.
Also get to lie to authorities and pretend not to know that your son is hiding somewhere within the house. Get slapped with an obstruction of Justice charge and watch as your son plays Rambo as he guns down arresting officers. This and many more assures hours of gameplay and replayability. Out on January 18, 2009 for the X-Box 360, Playstation 3, Wii and the Playstation Portable.

Starring: Robert Downey Jr. Rachel McAdams, Jude Law
Director: Guy Ritchie
This Guy Ritchie flick was a great movie. RDJ shined through and through as the eccentric detective Sherlock Holmes. While Jude Law plays the role of his backup/ Brock Samson who is also a medical doctor and a war veteran.
These two are hot on the case of Lord Blackwood, which also happens to be their last case together as partners. Blackwood's sudden "ressurection" after his public hanging brings these two blokes back together again as they face unsurmountable odds and bring the baddie to justice.
From the very beginning of the movie, you'll know that it's going to be action packed. Again, seeing Jude Law playing Watson brought a certain sense of badassery for Gigolo Joe. RDJ's Holmes was brilliant. I'm putting him up there now together with Johnny Depp as brilliant actors that can play whoever and get away it with.
Mark Strong's Lord Blackwood did not strike me as creepy. He did strike me as annoying with his oblique front tooth and everything. The shadowy Professor Moriarty who hires Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams) is certainly more appealing to me.
The ending to the movie also seemed a bit like the final scene to EVERY Scooby Doo episode I've ever seen. I was actually waiting for Blackwood to utter "I was going to get away with it if not for these pesky, meddling kids". But sadly, he didnt.
I also admire Ritchie's tense attention to detail with regards to the locations and the Industrial revolution-esque setting. It was gritty and it was dirty, something that the Sherlock Holmes stuff that has been loitering the four corners of the media forgot already.
If anything, the movie definitely uncovered another side of Sherlock Holmes that us literature buffs have completely forgotten. That the England that Holmes and Watson lived in wasnt the clean and affluent London but rather the dirty and putrid London that Sweeney Todd lived in.
And as far as I'm concerned, the movie also reminded me that Sherlock Holmes wasnt just a man wearing a silly hat and smoking a pipe regalling his exploits by the fireplace. This was the crazy, one-track minded guy that "plays violin at 3 am in the morning" and does crazy things to nab the bad guy.
Finally, I LOVED the dialogue where Holmes was analyzing the guys he was taking down.
And I quote:
"[first lines] Holmes: First point of attack, right ear. Two, throat, to muffle his scream. Three, cracked ribs. Four, sweep under right knee. In summary: neutralized. Chance of recovery: small."
Ingenious!
I cannot resist. Here's another quote.
[in a bare-knuckle boxing match, Holmes sees Irene and tries to forfeit and leave]
Sherlock Holmes: You've won, congratulations.
Big Man: I'm not done yet!
[He spits at the back of Holmes's head. Holmes stops]
Sherlock Holmes: [voice-over] This must register on an emotional level...
[in slow motion]
Sherlock Holmes: First, distract target...
[Holmes flicks a handerchief in front of his opponent's face]
Sherlock Holmes: Then block his blind jab...
[Holmes does]
Sherlock Holmes: Counter with cross to left cheek...
[Holmes does]
Sherlock Holmes: Discombobulate...
[Holmes claps his hands over his opponent's ears]
Sherlock Holmes: Dazed, will attempt wild haymaker. Weaken right jaw...
[Holmes blocks the haymaker and cracks his opponent's jaw with his elbow]
Sherlock Holmes: Now fracture...
[a cross to the jaw fractures the bone]
Sherlock Holmes: Break cracked ribs...
[a body blow cracks his ribs]
Sherlock Holmes: Heel kick to diaphragm...
[Holmes finishes with a heel kick to his opponent's chest, sending him crashing out of the cage]
Sherlock Holmes: In summary: ears ringing, jaw fractured, three ribs cracked, four broken, diaphragm haemmorraging. Physical recovery: six weeks. Full psychological recovery: six months. Capacity to spit at back of head: neutralized.
[Back in real time, Holmes picks up the handkerchief, as though wiping the back of his neck, then does all of the foregoing in about six seconds, and knocks his opponent out of the cage]
(Thanks to IMDB for that)

My rating? Watch it.

Blake Lively (most known for TV’s Gossip Girl) has landed the role of Carol Ferris, according to Cinema Blend. Most comic fans know Carrol Ferris as Hal Jordan’s boss, love interest, and sometimes rival as Star Sapphire. I had heard Lively was on the top five, but I wasn’t sure she’d get the role because of her young age (note, she is only 22), but she must have done something to impress director Martin Campbell.
Sure, she’s a pretty blond, but I really don’t see this. Then again, I’m not a renowned movie director.
All is left, supposedly, is the casting of Hector Hammond and arch-nemesis Sinestro. ‘Rama readers, what do you think of this casting call?

According to Newsarama,
Overnight at Marvel.com, the House of Ideas showed off their latest: an all-new armor for the metal Avenger, Iron Man.
This newest iteration of 'ole Shellhead's battle-dress features the familiar Red and Gold color scheme, but a streamlined look and redistribution of colors gives it a unique style.
According to Marvel's piece, the look was co-designed by now longtime Invincible Iron Man writer Matt Fraction and the designer for the Iron Man and Thor movies, Ryan Meinerding. Fraction is quoted as saying, ""The inspiration for the new design came from thinking about a sleeker, leaner, tougher Iron Man. If technology is increasingly getting smaller and lighter it seems like the Iron Man should do the same: ergonomic and aerodynamic."
Marvel does note it will still be Tony Stark in the new armor, and the debut will come in April's Invincible Iron Man #25.
So... what do you think?

I love the whole theme. Sasha Grey is still the bomb @ 21! Oh and yes, please have your dogs spayed or neutered.

BTW, the Warpath X-Force was a custom. So goodluck on that.

Thank you FHM for granting my Christmas Wish!!!
Salamat talaga ng marami!!!!

So, SIEGE is finally here. I just dont know where to start this short review.
Well for starters, its written by Brian Michael Bendis with art chores coming from Young Guns member Olivier Coipel (who previously worked on Thor with JMS)
It's been much talked about and hyped about as the end of Norman Osborn's so-called "Dark Reign" and frankly, I could really care less. The problem with the Bendis led mid-events are the fact that whoever's top dog appears in over 40 to 75 comic books from Marvel.
It happened to Stark, and it happened to Osborn. There were more misses than hits and it's been dragging on for awhile.
I was never really planning on getting SIEGE because of the mere fact that it was another event. And I am so sick and tired of reading event books that do little - to no changes whatsoever.
So going back to SIEGE, there were lots of loose threads that Bendis tried so hard to write and finish off.
If theres anything that I am really hoping SIEGE delivers is that it TRULY brings back Thor, Captain America and Iron Man after several years away from each other.
Bendis also plans on "finally" unveiling the secret of the Sentry (which was really great under Paul Jenkins, not Bendis)
So going back to the story itself, one of the Warriors Three, Volstagg managed to kill hundreds if not thousands of people during a random encounter with some of the Hood's stooges.
Unknown to many, this was only a part of Loki and Osborn's schemes to seal Osborn's so-called control over the world.
Ares and the Sentry, together with their DARK AVENGERS teammates storm Asgard in retaliation for the deaths in Soldier's Field.

During the initial attack, the Sentry does a DRAGON BALL and slowly destroys Asgard from the ground up.

When Thor finally appears to help his Asgardian brothers, he gets a sound beating (which I still can't accept and understand... Okay, so maybe Sentry may just beat Thor now, but the Thor I knew was capable of putting up a decent fight against the Golden Avenger.)

This later catches the attention of Captain America Steve Rogers. For people looking for our favorite Avenger Iron Man, well, by the story starts, it seems like Stark Disassembled just finished and is well on the way to a full recovery.

If theres anything that redeems this book, I'd probably say that it was the art. Having a great inker and colorist on your side is such a great thing. Compared to his previous work on HOUSE OF M, i'd probably say this was WAAAAAAAAAYYYY better.

David Finch has been for sometime now, Marvel's most prominent cover artist (ofcourse we had to move on after Michael Turner who was a really outstanding artist).
He was even brightly featured in the annual "MARVEL YOUNG GUNS" booklet about a few years back. And then in a shocking turn of event, we find out that David Finch has moved on to greener pastures, which happens to be DC Comics.
My two cents? The guy's a great artist. But I really feel like he's not really all that. Yeah there was probably hype surrounding the guy, but when you do more covers than interiors, that says a lot.
This is really sad because it tells foreigners that we're pretty stiff even for shooting photos.
Let's all take this like men and women.

Happy New Year! And since its a brand new year, I decided to do a little change of image and have my head shaved.
You when people ask other people, "bat nagpakalbo ka?" and ang isasagot sayo e "Wala akong magawa eh." or "Wala lang."
I experienced the same thing. I really had no particular reason to do this but then again, I wanted it.
And so here I am. Braving 2010 with a smirk and a bald head.
From the opening scene alone, I knew that it had something. Unfortunately, I was seriously focused on finishing Final Fantasy VII (I was in the scene where we get the Highwind so it was pretty intense that part)
So there I was playing the game, when suddenly, I see the scene from the onboard movie. Two girls, sweaty, dirty and scantily clad KISSING EACH OTHER! And there was tongue and there were several close ups.
And my first thoughts as I was "Gawd! Why the hell are they showing this here?" And then after a second look, well, I forgot about it.
Without any decent plot whatsoever, the movie is filled with the following things:
(1) Scantily clad girls
(2) Guns
(3) Violence
All the generic formula that made up the 1970's "blaxploitation" sub-genre of movies. It may not have been discussed during college but I do know that these movies made Pam Grier famous (who did Foxy Brown, which was later spoofed in the Austin Powers movies by Beyonce who called herself FOXY CLEOPATRA)
So going back to my story, I was busy watching the movie when I realized that the random enemy that attacked my party was already killing me. I played again and again I was later distracted by the sight of the aforementioned girls playing with water while washing a car. Ugh.
So moral of the lesson, men, including geeks may have the willpower of a Green Lantern, but when three beautiful ladies are shown locking lips and playing with firearms, well thats a whole new ball game.
Now if your too lazy to actually google the damned blasted movie, I've included several photos from the movie...

The film even includes Hercules himself, Kevin Sorbo...

And the tandem of Xena (Lucy Lawless) and Gabriel from Xena: Warrior Princess
