The new OVA set for release next year will feature a souped up Mazinkaiser mecha. The new Mazinkaiser, called Mazinkaiser SKL is also set to harken back to the older times, in this case Mazinger Z.
THE MACHINE
The Mazinkaiser SKL is being controlled by two pilots, Kaido and Magami (which may or may not be a homage to the classic pilots Kouji Kabuto and Tetsuya Tsugumi (of Great Mazinger).

THE WEAPONS
As you can see, the weapons are more formidable and more scary looking compared to the previous iterations of the robot..
THE BACKUP
Replacing the previous 2 backups (Mighty Aphrodite and Diana) the new female robot looks more like invader rather than mighty protector.

Yeah the character/ monster designs look pretty amazing and it seems like the franchise is in good hands. I really could not wait for the release of the new OVA (as well as the novel and the anime.)
And the OVA will be released in three- 30 minute episodes. Meaning, we'll be getting an hour and a half worth of episodes.
