Easter Eggs from the Green Lantern Trailer

MTV Splash Page has provided several easter eggs we fanboys might have missed while watching the trailer for Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively and directed by Martin Campbell.

Star Sapphire Carol Ferris

The Star Sapphire insignia appear's in Carol Ferris/ Blake Lively's helmet in their flight scene. This might be a random easter egg or a vision of things to come for Gossip Girl main star...

FYI in the recent Green Lantern comic book by Geoff Johns, Carol just became the Queen of the Star Sapphires following the heroic sacrifice of the Star Sapphire queen, Queen Agapho.

Parallax and Hector Hammond

Based on the reflection of the eyes of Hector Hammond, it seems like the character will be dealing with the fear entity known as Parallax.

In the comic books, it is currently Hector Hammond who is playing host for the entity of avarice, Ophidian the tempter. Hammond also appeared in Geoff Johns' retconned origins of Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the story arc called "Secret Origins".

Green Lantern # 56 Preview

What the hell is Larfleeze up to? Any is Saint Walker clutching the Orange Lantern Battery? And what's up with Hector Hammond? Oh and who's that black cloaked guy stealing all the entities anyway? Green Lantern # 56 up for a preview.

Ewww! The disgusting Hector Hammond is daydreaming again.

Whos the entity in Las Vegas? Was it Ophidian? Or was it Adara?

Artist Doug Mahnke definitely has gone a long way back from his Justice League Elite days. His art looks great every new issue that comes out!

In Brightest Day

Yup. Brightest Day is finally upon us. Welcome back Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Deadman, Firestorm, Hawkman and Hawkgirl!

Great job Geoff Johns! You truly rock sir!

21st Century Reinvention of Superman

J.Michael Straczynski and Shane Davis will be working together to publish a new take on Superman and what makes him the Man of Steel.

To tell you guys honestly, I wasnt really a full fledged fan of JMS. But that was before Thor. Yeah, so maybe his run on Amazing Spiderman gave us creeps like Morlun or forgettable stories like "Sins Past" where we find out that Gwen Stacy was actually impregnated by Norman Osborn and that they sired NINJA KIDS (I kid you not, if your unfamilair to that particular mythos.)

But then again, JMS has given us a lot of good things. He gave sci-fi fans Babylon 5 (Waaaay before the BSG remakes kids.) He made Thor suchs a wonderful albeit, late read. He also rewrote the script for the recently shown Ninja Assassin (What is it with him and Ninjas?)

So now, as a solid fan of JMS, I'm really psyched to read the graphic novels from DC Comics' Earth One line of books.

Plus did I mention that the Batman books will be scripted by Geoff Johns with art by Gary Frank.

Teasers, Teasers, Teasers

Whoa!

Checked Newsarama today and I was floored.

Apparently there will be a new X-Men in the horizon. And It's gonna be DARK....

(Dark X-Men Roster includes:

Emma Frost - now draped in black
Namor - the very first mutant
Charles Xavier - The founder of the X-Men
Dark Wolverine - my new favorite character Daken Akihiro
Cloak and Dagger - si Dagger!!!! Woot Woot!
Mimic - one of the first few enemies the X-Men had when they started out.

The last ones kind of a mystery. Could he be Michael Pointer, the new Weapon Omega, or an updated version of Omega Red???? )

BLACKEST NIGHT

We also get to see some new teaser images for the upcoming BLACKEST NIGHT saga over in DC Comics...

We already know that Geoff Johns has unleashed several new critters who will take part in the "War of Light" saga and we also know (thanks to the DC Direct toys) that Martian Manhunter and Earth 2 Superman (Kal-L) will be part of the Black Lanterns.

But I was surprised to find out that Arthur Curry, the original AQUAMAN has also been drafted into the Black Army...

Reading: Flash Rebirth # 1

Read Flash Rebirth # 1 by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver and I must admit that despite me not being a Flash fan, I was hooked.

The story begins with a murder in a crime lab followed by a sinister somebody trying to re-enact the birth of the Silver Age Flash. Dousing himself with chemicals and using a lightning rod (oddly enough designed with the Flash insignia) to gain super speed.

Meanwhile in another part of Central City, thousands flock the Flash museum to honor the return of the Flash.

JSA Headquarters and both the Titans and the Teen Titans have their own celebration. (Kid Flash, the newly returned Bart Allen is with the Teen Titans while Wally West is with his friends in the Titans.)

Of all the things Barry can do with his spare time, he decides to visit the Flash museum in order to catch up with the things that he missed over the period of time he was bonded with the Speed Force. Hal Jordan, Green Lantern and formerly Parallax, joins his friend in his tour.

In another part of the city, two kids find the skeletal remains of the Black Flash...

Later as Barry is running through the speed force, Savitar, a perp left to rot in the Speed Force escapes through Barry's chest only the dissolve right in front of the Scarlet Speedster after being touched.

Meanwhile in the real world, speedster Liberty Bell, Wally West and Bart Allen, and even Wally's kids Iris and Jai suffer an electric shock of sorts...

The issue ends with Barry finding out that the death's are caused by him....

We also see a special for the upcoming Power Girl series...

Nice!
